Founding Lead Pastors

Richard and Theresa Hilton

Richard and Theresa Hilton

Meeting in church, Richard and Theresa’s journey through life has always been centered around their love for Christ.  On June 3, 1977, the couple was married in Elizabethton, the same town where Pastor Richard was born.  Shortly after their marriage, they left for Bible college.  By 1982, Pastor Richard and Pastor Theresa were full-time evangelists, traveling to revivals, youth camps, and conferences.  In April 1985, they came back to the Tri-Cities to pioneer and plant Calvary Church.  Our pastors have faithfully served this region and local church for more than 25 years.

Richard Hilton is gifted as a pastor, writer, and also conference speaker.  His practical and sincerely passionate speaking style touches the hearts from children to seniors, non-Christians to ministry leaders.  Two of his deepest passions have been missions and church planting.  Several thriving churches have been sent out directly from Calvary Church.  Many more ministries and churches pursue Pastor Hilton for oversight, coaching, and mentoring.  Pastor Richard also serves as Assistant Overseer to Calvary Alliance of Churches and Ministries founded by Bishop B. Courtney McBath.

Theresa Hilton, lovingly named “Pastor T.,” has served alongside her husband as co-pastor, worship and choir leader, songwriter and composer.  Pastor Theresa shares her unforgettable voice in concerts, in addition to being a popular conference speaker.  She also ministers as teacher and mentor to pastors’ wives.

Together, their journey of love and grace has formed them into an effective team representing and fighting for family and marriage.  They reside in Johnson City, Tennessee.  All three of their children are married and serve faithfully alongside their spouses in ministry.
